Title: The Heroes of Redwall: The Return of Zanzuthari Deathhound
Post by: AbbotAlf0809 on February 21, 2014, 04:14:06 AM
The personal recordings of Abbot Amaru, successor of Abbot Slusk,

This is the winter of the Warmed Hearth, the Abbey has just began their winter festivities as the fire in Cavern Hole is never dying. We have heard nothing of Davidari since his warriors left our abbey three seasons ago after liberating Southsward from The Empire. Although, not to long ago a smuggler mentioned the Knight Tribe to Jag in Agutrot. The Wildfires have continued to live at Redwall with they're two children. Dari the Bat has made a few occasional visits to the abbey but mostly stays to himself. Leading his tribe of bats. Chelonia has become an honorary abbey member as she comes to visit us all of the time. She owns a house however in Agutrot and I think she is some sort of rogue. Muchlik, ah Muhlik, where to begin? Muchlik has been on several adventures since the events in Southsward but is now the Chieftain of Noonvale. My homeland of Jima has been faring well now that my older brother Wataru is the Shogun. I personally enjoy abbey life, even if I'm the first ever fox to join the abbey more or less become Abbot. But enough about me, on to more pressing matters. The Guosim have been seen in great numbers lately in war parties. Chelonia brings word that the Trident Syndicate has been skirmishing with both The Kingdom of Jima, The Guosim, and the hares of the Long Patrol. What is the Trident Syndicate you ask? A motley alliance of the foulest criminals and killers in Mossflower. Together they consist of the Corsair Republic, a The Smugglers Union, and The Bounty Hunters Guild. probably no concern though, thy are to terribly rag tag for an organized invasion. I do wish to hear from Davidari soon though. I would love to add some facts about the Knight Tribe to my collection.
-Abbot Amaru, Son of Shogun Sandokhan

The bright morning sun shone through the trees Muchlik the Warrior walked toward the ford of the river moss. He had left his people in good hands as he went forth to visit the Abbey after many long seasons. Or that is what he told him self. At the back of his mind he had other reasons, he had a small but longing hope that Chelonia would be there or near by. He also hoped to learn some news about his good friend Davidari, whom he haden't heard from since last time they had both been at the abbey.

He sood on the edge of the ford, his horsehair-crested helmet in his arm. The water cooled down his foot paws as he waded through. It wasn't long till the great bell tower was seen above the trees. His hopes grew ever more desperate at the site.

Dari was settling nicely into his new responsibilities as batlord, though he was never the responsible sort, as anyone could say. The mountpit was flourishing now, and he was thinking of bringing moles back from Redwall to help dig new tunnels. He made his mind up on the spot.
"Rex!" he said, flying off to find his second-in-command.
Rex opened a bleary eye at Dari, "It is morning, Milord."
"Yes, I know." Dari said impatiently, "That is because I'm traveling to Redwall. I'll be getting moles to help with expanding the pit. I'll be away several days, you're in charge until I get back."
He flew to an exit and winged out in the direction of Redwall.

OOC: I'll write my other characters when I have more time.

Abbot Amaru sat by the fire looking out of the window at the snow covered courtyard of Redwall Abbey. He sat and waited for the return of one of their scavenging parties. They were out looking for firewood and food for the Abbey for they were strangely running a little low. He then began to write a letter to his dear friend, Captain Jallek Sparra. He had not seen his good friend Jallek in monthes and the last he heard if him was when Chelona brought a rumor that he was arrested by the Jimanesse Navy for illegal smuggling.

Miharig Itav, some call him the lizard of Hellgates while others just call him straight up creepy. He was a cold blooded assassin who was never seen without leaving the beast dead or perminantly crippled. He and his two initiates had found the body of Imperial General Grenn. The rival of Davidari the Warroir.  They had traveled for weeks by the time they reached the far north. They had travelled so far north the Myrandalian Scouts that had been tracking then turned around saying it was to cold. Miharig and his men reached the top of a hill where a large castle like structure was build. It was built of complete black and the windows were red as blood. He banged on the great gates and yelled, "Open up!! Your Nightshade demands it!" As soon as he spoke the gates were opened. "come men, General Grenn's legacy is not yet over..."

Lassus stared at his two captors, hating them, and his stupidity, very, very much. He had been caught a few sunrises before, and been a slave of sorts since.
"A'ight, rabbit, yew kin cook, can't yew?" a crude-looking fox said, poking Lassus none too gently with his claw.
"I am a Mara." Lassus corrected, "There is a difference. A very big one."
The weasel hit him over the head, "Shuddup! We says yew kin cook, yew kin cook! Build a fire and get too it!"
Lassus made a face, but decided it wasn't worth the pain to object. He reluctantly began shuffling to the end of his rope to gather tinder.

Through the snow-swept trees of Mossflower a lone figure strolled, not in any particular direction, obviously lost.

Welkin Smokefurr stared at the seemingly endless trees, growling as he realized he'd just walked in a huge circle. This was hopeless! Where in the name of hellsteeth was the path? Surely he'd been past that cluster of pine trees before...

And so the lost warrior wandered, unaware he was moving closer to Redwall Abbey.

Several hours later, Welkin became aware of a huge structure in front of him. He pulled his ragged cloak closer, and ran towards it. What was this, some sort of castle? No matter, civilization meant warmth! Finally reaching it, he saw he had also bundered onto the main path, unaware of it. Drawing the last of his energy, he reached the main gate, and proceeded to start banging on it.

"Hello? Let me in!" he yelled, noting his body temperature had dropped drastically.

The fairly young newly appointed, Badgermum Rose opened the latch on the main gate peering out at the newcomer through the new and ice. "You may I ask are you?" The badger said shivering in the bitter cold. The snow was impeccable and she could hardly bear it.

Davidari the Warroir had just woken up after having an extended night with his wife, the Lady Hylia. He walked to the large window on his overlook to see his vast tribe, a civilization build into the side of cliffs. He soon as he had gotten ready for his day, he threw on his large coat and headed out into the snow covered tribe. "Quite a windy day huh Mycroft?" Davidari said to his Captain of the Guard. "Indeed it is m'lord. But sir, we have something to report." Mycroft replied, "There were black robed beasts commercing to the old Abbey up north."

Welkin shivered, and attempted to answer through chattering teeth.

"I'm... traveling warrior... can't find a place to stay..."

The young wildcat was suddenly worried; Would they even let him in? His muscular build and obvious sword didn't help, and he had heard in some areas certain creatures were regarded as "vermin"... did wildcats fall under that category? He would soon find out.

Badgermum Rose gasped, "Oh you poor creature! Come in come in!" She opened the gate and helped the wildcat in. "Please come with me and I will get you to a fire." She said leading him into Cavern Hole.
Abbot Amaru eyed the stranger, "Who is this fellow Rose?" Rose got Welkin a blanket and replied as she sat him down, "This poor wildcat was left out I'm the cold freezing to death. We have to let him stay!"
Abbot Amaru nodded, "Of course he can stay! We have several wildcats that stay at the abbey as a matter a fact."

Wisp watched as Welkin walked through the main gate. He didn't envy him, for he had his own warmth. He lit a small fire in his paw, and held it near his chest. He stood against a yew tree, careful to keep his lit paw away from it.

He looked down at the ground. They would never accept him, he was a Pine Marten, a "vermin".
He snuffed out his fire and kept walking.

And-of course-they were expecting a fire in a wet snowy woodland. Lassus finally just broke a couple of twigs from a low-hanging branch moodily.
"You expect me to build a fire in the snow?" Lassus asked, "That is not possible!"

All this was several days ago, and the slavers were making Lassus cook what he could as they pressed down the path that could only be seen for its lack of trees.
"I jus' thought," the fox said to the weasel suddenly, "The rabbit isn't a abbeybeast. 'e don't wear the right clothes. 'Ow kin we 'old 'im fer ransom?"
The weasel whacked his companion over the head with his spear, "T'ick'ead!" He said, "Yew want ever'beast tew 'ear yew?"
"But why ain't we kidnappin' a abbeybeast?" the fox persisted.
The weasel made a strained noise and leaped upon the fox, beating him with his spear. They scuffled in the snow, and Lassus set to work.

The spells wouldn't last too long. He had three minutes, at most. Lassus raised his paws and chewed at the rope binding his paws together, and unbound the one around his footpaws. He ran quickly down the path in the same direction the vermin had been going. If he found this abbey, he could get some new supplies and be on his way.

A large cart trundled through the snow, it was pulled by seemingly no one but voices could be heard emanating from it

"....and that was how we escaped the Flitchaye" an old bat had just finished telling a tale to his traveling companions. A young weasel rolled her eyes "Pretty full o' yerself ain't ya Dusk?" the bat rounded on her "And how pray tell do you come to that conclusion my dear Treestalker?"
"Well" she replied "from yore story it was yew that got us outta there when we was captured but it weren't quite like that, were it Vadis?" A dark furred otter in a blue tunic shook his head
"No it wasn't. As I recall it was Kalayo who set us free by burning through the ropes"
"Aye" said a fox "and it was Duniya who distracted the guards by throwing stones, not you Dusk" The bat looked flustered "Alright, alright maybe there were a few minor embellishments to make myself look more important but doesn't everyone do that?" A grey furred otter sitting at the back of the cart chuckled "No my shortsighted friend, there's only you that does that" a female otter in a purple dress laughed
"You're one to talk Murlo Streamhound, if I remember correctly you'll tell anyone who comes to the holt that you single-handedly fought off that vermin band who attacked us last season when there were at least ten others with you" Dusk smiled as Murlo went red
"Hypocrite" he said jokingly

A particularly strong gust of wind ripped through the group, putting out a torch held by the fox and chilling them all to the bone. Vadis shivered "Light another fire Kalayo, before we freeze to death" The fox shook his head
"Me aura's spent Vad, couldn't light another if me life depended on it, 'sides the wind's picked up, it'd just keep going out"
"Unfortunately" said Duniya, throwing up her hood "yore life does depend on it. Dusk can't you keep the wind away?"
"Don't look at me young missie" replied the bat "I need to concentrate on keeping this cart going"
Vadis wrapped his cloak around himself "We need to find some shelter" he said, his teeth chattering "or we'll be goners before the day's out" Dusk nodded
"Redwall abbey isn't far from here, I'll get us there before we perish, never fear" the bat spoke with a confidence that he did not feel.
The cart and it's occupants traveled onward towards Redwall, unaware of the dark shape that flitted through the trees behind them.

Davidari had begun to pack his things as he prepared to travel to Redwall Abbey.
"Why must you go Davi?" Asked his wife Hylia. She was pregnant with their second child. Their first child, Saria, drag her fathers large black trench coat to him, "Ere yew go dawdy!" Davidari smiled and patted her child on the head saying, "I'll be back before you know it Saria." Saria hugged her dad and said, "I wuv yew dawdy!"
"I love you too Saria," he replied putting on his trench coat. He kissed his wife and left his palace. He sent Captain Mycroft and his troops to investigate the old Blackstone Abbey, then began his trudge through the snow south towards Redwall Abbey.

Miharig drug the body of General Grenn to the inner sanctum where there were several dark robed figured sitting in a large circle. There was a dark and ominous spirit within the room as he threw the body before the hooded figures. "Here is a soul of equal strength. Alpha Gamma Alpha." Said Miharig kneeling before the figures. The robed beasts parted for a larger crimson robed figure stepped forth wearing an evil twisted mask. "This soul is not strong enough..." he hissed, "I shall however try my best to work with this one. The ordeal may be completed. You are dismissed Nightshade...."
Miharig bowed, "Yes Abbot Foh....

Clayclaw hurried as fast as he could, floundering through the snow, trying to catch up to his general.
"Zurr!" he called when Davidari was in earshot, "Oi thinked you'm carn't be gooing aloone!"

Jag sat on a wooden beam above the Great Hall, putting his black paw into the colourful light of the stained glass and playing with it.  No matter how old he got, the glass was still fun to sit by.  He remembered seasons ago when he'd first arrived at Redwall, one of the first things he'd noticed was the stained glass.  The amazing patterns had awed him; they still did.

"Jag?" a feminine voice called from below.  The tom looked down to find a familiar black she-cat watching him.  "Jag, come on down from there, please!  Talon and Holm have been playing in the mud again and I need you to help me get them in the tub."

The white and black cat nodded and let out a small sigh before throwing down his rope.  That rope had been there since the season after he'd come to the abbey; he'd begged the Abbot to let him put it up so he could sit in the rafters and think.  Now it had become a permanent addition to Great Hall, complete with a peg to hang it on, just above the reach of Dibbuns.

Climbing down, Jag planted his footpaws on the cold stone floor and wrapped the rope around the peg before turning to give Shadow a light peck on the cheek.  "Where're the kits now?"

Shadow took his paw and jerked her head towards the dormitories.  Then both walked quickly to relieve poor Sister Mayzie, who was soaked from head to tail.

Dusk was tired as everyone could tell, continuous magic takes its toll on the user and Dusk had been keeping this spell up for hours. Murlo called out to him "Dusk stop that 'fore you kill yourself! Let Duniya take over!" The bat shook his head
"No need, I can see Redwall, it'll only take us ten minutes to get there. Besides Duniya's young, she'll tire faster than any of us"
"Be that as it may, she's offered to help and I don't think we should refuse her"
"I told you, there's no need now stop going on about it!"
"You stubborn mule" Murlo hissed between gritted teeth. The grey-furred otter whipped off a stone from his sling. Dusk's eyes widened and he threw up an air shield around himself, the stone crashed through, slowed down slightly but still moving. The stone hit the bat on the side of the head and he dropped like a log. Murlo threw his arms out to catch the bat and laid his prone form next to Vadis under the cloak "Alright Duniya" he said "take over"

Dusk awoke to the sound of Murlo banging on the door of Redwall abbey "we made it" he thought. "Helloooo?" called Murlo banging on the gate "we're cold and hungry travelers seeking refuge, open up!"

Davidari chuckled as he watche his mole friend flounder through the snow, "Oh of course Clayclaw! Ide never deny you an adventure!" He adjusted the sword and shield strapped on his back and continued down the snow covered road with his companion. "It will be good to see the abbey again won't it old buddy?"
He said trudging through the snow.

Abbot Amaru pointed at Badgermum Rose and said, "There are woodlanders at the gate I can hear them. Please, Rose let them inside"
The young badger maiden nodded and stopped up to the gate and let in the travelers, "Oh let me help you with that cart! It must be terribly heavy." She said pulling in the cart.

Dusk flapped up out of the cart "No worries about the cart miss" he said "we don't need to pull it at all so it isn't heavy" Duniya scowled at him
"It might not be heavy Dusk, but it is tirin' to keep it goin'"
"What did I say? That you were too young to handle it for long? I was right wasn't I Murlo"
The grey-furred otter wasn't listening "Jenna, hand me your bow" Jenna didn't question her husband and passed him her bow. Quick as lightning Murlo had notched an arrow and had the string pulled tight against his cheek. He moved the bow from left to right "What is it?" asked Jenna, worried at the look on her husband's face
"There's somethin' watchin' us" he replied, still searching "and it ain't friendly. Get inside, quickly, there's no one there which means they're good, which means they're even more dangerous" he hopped up onto the back of the cart and crouched, his bow still pointing out into the wood

Sir Metaltalon was looking out of his mountain. All around him was white. All, White. He knew what could happen in this weather. Any enemy could come and attack. He had been in many battles before, but he could sense, was going to be big.
************************************************************************************************
Nate sat in his dorm watching the newcomers. He did not like new folks at the abbey, but he knew it was the law.
''Hi Ho! There ya are Nate ma Mate! Where ya been wot!''
Tonto buttonnose the former Long Patrol Hare, burst in.
''Im alright. Just not liken the newcomers. They make me mad.''
''Why is that old chap?''
''Well, I was only a babe when the Battle of Southsward happened. So when all these newcomers come, I feel like something will happen.''
''I see lad, When I left the Long Patrol, I felt like that. Scared and superstitious. There is nothin' to worry about though, right chap Wot Wot!''
''I guess your right. Hey, want some scones? I smell some baking in the kitchens!''
''Ill race ya there skipepig!''

They ran off to the kitchens.

Wisp ducked when the otter drew his bow. Have I been seen? Is he going to kill me? Thoughts like those raced through his mind. He thought it better to assess the threat up close.

He walked slowly out of the tree line, and kept a calm voice. "Were you referring to me, streamdog?"
Title: Re: The Heroes of Redwall: The Return of Zanzuthari Deathhound

Murlo shook his head "I was not referring to you sir, no. There's somethin' evil out here somethin' powerful and very evil indeed, my advice is run as quickly as you can towards us before it gets you" A black bird landed on a tree branch above Wisp. The bird began to twist and warp, eventually turning into a fox in a sleeveless overcoat "Oh please" he said, his voice was cold and menacing "if I'd wanted to get him I would have already" Murlo loosed his arrow at the fox. A tendril of black smoke whipped out and knocked it off course, burying itself in the ground next to Wisp. The fox stepped forward and disappeared into black smoke, he appeared a second later having seemed to step forward right next to Wisp. A top hat formed out of black smoke and appeared on his head, he took it off with a flourish and gave an elegant bow "He who Walks in Shadows at your service"

Wisp turned to the fox. His paws were aflame instantly, and all the grass around him sizzled away.
"He who burns you to death, at yours."

Miharig waited patiently outside of Abbot Foh's sanctum until one of his acolytes walked out, "Abbot Foh will see you now..." He walked into the sanctum to see the abbot casting a strange magic on the body of general Grenn. Soon, a blue mist arose from the body and flew into a round portal/mirror object on the wall. Then the body descentigrated and a fox skeleton appear from the dust. "Ah... Miharig..." hissed Zedd Foh as he continued. "F-father abbot..." stuttered Miharig. Soon, the flesh and fur of a fox began to flow from the portal and onto the skeleton. Once the body had been created, Abbot Foh reached into the mirror and pulled from the flames a red mist. He then cast it into the body and chanted, "Oh great one... lord of evil and king of Hellgates... Give life to your greatest minion. So that he may destroy one again...." then a loud roar arose from the flames in the mirror. The fox then opened his eyes and arose from the alter. "Impressive Abbot Foh," said Miharig, "I guess the generals soul was str-!" He was cut off mid sentence by the fox grabbing his neck. The abbot waved his hand and the fox released Miharig. Zedd Foh then tetris red an artifact from his collection and have it to the fox, "This is your ancient weapon, The Trident of Demons." The fox took it and shouted, "I SHALL HAVE MY VENGANCE!!!!!" AbbotGoh chuckled and said, "You will in good time... go now, Lord Zanzuthari Deathhound!!!!"

The fox disappeared again and reappeared next to Redwall's wall "Now now, that's not very friendly" he leaned back against the wall, his body tensed, his eyes bulged in his face and he screamed. He once again dispersed into black smoke and a second later he was writhing on the floor between the abbey and Wisp. He howled and spat and hissed and screamed, the sound was unearthly and struck terror into the hearts of most beasts. His form flickered between a rat, a fox and a bird, wings flickered into existence on his back, disappearing as horns sprouted from his head and still he screamed. He lay on the path for five minutes, rolling and screaming and cursing, before he finally staggered to his feet. His yellow eyes gleamed as he glared balefully at the abbey "Hallowed ground..." he muttered "and they've got a guardian spirit too" he raised his voice "Consider yourselves lucky, I won't be killing you today" And with a puff of black smoke, he was gone.

Red snow. Stained with the blood of Davidari's warriors. Miharig drug the defeated Captain Mycroft to Zanthar and said, "Lord Zanthar, the enemy leader is the only one alive." Zanthar removed the helmet from his coal black armor and whiped around his crimson cape, "Throw him into the dungeons at the abbey, the Inquisitors shall have their fun with him..." He said with an evil smirk. Miharig nodded and ordered two initiates to take him back.
"Lord Zanthar, permission to speak?"
"Permission granted Miharig."
"Where shall we begin our construction?" We cannot defeat the Knight Tribe, Salamandastron, and Redwll with only us and some assassins and warlocks."
"We travel to Agutrot. We then comindeer a vessel and sail to Voss."
"Yes Lord Zanthar..."

After the kits were under control and in the tub of soapy water, Jag snatched a towel from the ground and left Shadow to clean them up.  He dried his arms and walked out of the room, making his way to the gate, where he'd heard a loud commotion.  Newbeasts, he thought, always causing a ruckus.

The tom came upon a large group of creatures and slung the towel over his shoulder, glancing from beast to beast.  A fox, a bat, an otter... where had they all come from?

"Ahoy, mates!" Jag called, waving to the visitors.  "Welcome to the abbey.  I'm Jag Wildfire.  Wot be yer names, if I may ask?"

OOC:  Is there a current Abbey Champion?  If not, could Jag possibly be it?  (If there's already one and I just haven't noticed, then whoops!  Silly me.  ::))  Also, is Shade accepted, Alf?

OOC:  Sounds good with me, Leatho.  And to Alf, haha, I didn't realize that.  Sorry for my lack of observation skills.  ::)  (Oh, and also, not trying to be a pest or anything, but is Shade accepted?  Or do you need me to change something?)

BIC:  "Muchlik!"  Jag lightly punched the mouse on the shoulder, grinning from ear to ear.  "I've been great!  Wot about you, ye great ole snowy beast?"

While he was saying this, another creature, a sable, stepped into view.

  "Um... hi?  Is this Redwall?"

Looking away from the white mouse for a moment, the tom gave a large smile to the newcomer.  "Aye, this be Redwall Abbey.  We welcome all beasts with good 'earts an' good intentions 'ere."  He dropped the smile, suddenly exceedingly serious.  "You ain't meanin' to do no 'arm to the abbey or its in'abitants, are ye?"

  *  *  *

Shadow rubbed her white patch of fur with her forearm, her paws covered in slightly muddy suds.  "Crazy Dibbuns," she muttered, ushering her two children into the dormitory with her free paw.  "You two stay in there till you're dry, okay?  And no more playing in the mud!"

Talon and Holm groaned but reluctantly obeyed, and the black queen* shut the door after them.  She then padded softly to the entrance of the abbey and snuck out the door, wondering where Jag had gotten off to.  When she saw him at the gate, she jogged over, slightly surprised to see so many beasts gathered there.

"Jag?" she asked as she stopped beside him.  "Jag, who are all these beasts?"

Then she noticed a familiar fair face.

"Much!" she cried joyfully, throwing her arms wide to embrace him.  "It's good to see you again!  What have you been up to?"

*Queen as in a female cat, not the ruler.  Also not a chess piece.  ;)

OOC: Rightio

BIC: Muchlik was very glad to see his old pals again, he gave them greeting in turn. A some what harder but playful punch to the shoulder for the tom and a gentle hug for the she cat.

"Oh, all's well with me and my tribe. Worked on some new building projects at Noonville, and securing the borders. You two and your children would be most welcome to visit any time you like."

The warrior answered.

"Other than that, traveling mostly. From here I hope to move on to Agutrot."

OOC: Ya he is and BTW Agutrot is just north of Salamandastron on the coast.

BIC: Abbot Amaru walked into the room curious who their third newcomer was, "Redwall will be full if this keeps up!" He greeted Muchlik and led them all into Cavern Hole for a drink.

Davidari brushed the snow from his trench coat and looked out over the snow covered Mossflower, searching for any sign of the abbey. "Ah ha! There's the ole abbey! Hurry up Clayclaw!" He said steadying the sword on his back and running down the hill. "If hurry along we can be there by nightfall!"

Agutrot, the armpit of Mossflower, a vast sea port filled to the brim with corsairs, thugs, smugglers, and even the lands most dreaded bounty hunters. Zanthar set up his encampment outside of the city and ordered Miharig to set up recruitment posters and find a ship willing to take him to Voss. He had his men raise his flag over his camp, the skull and crossed tridents.

Arraka Darkbrush wasn't happy..... at all. The squirrel remembered all too well  just who this monster was, and what he would do if he wasn't stopped. What made Arraka unhappy was the fact that she was going to have to play the part of an evil beast to get information about his plans... Also meaning she'd be out on the Sea with all of his un-kept horde, "ugh. Well, here goes nothing." She approached the recruiter. Davidari would almost certainly know of the deathound's reappearance, and while he was assembling an army, she could be slowing the evil menace down.

Dari had gotten blown off course, and was now huddled in the branches of a pine tree, trying to figure out where he could go now.

Davidari and Clayclaw made it to the abbey gates by the evening and Davidari banged on the door with his steel gauntlet. "Open up! Redwall's greatest ally demands entry!" The bang echoed throughout the abbey and the abbey dwellers thought as if a badger lord was at their gates.
"Greatest ally?" Puzzled Abbot Amaru, "Somebody see who is at the gates."
Davidari looked at Clayclaw, "Flip up your hood ole buddy. I want to give them a surprise."

OOC: Who do you mean by the third newcomer? I think you mean Dusk and the others but I'm not sure

Dusk turned to Rose and performed an action which might have been a bow "Greetings and salutations, my name is Dusk, the grey otter is Murlo Streamhound, that's his wife Jenna and his son Vadis. The fox over there is Kalayo Flametail and the weasel is Duniya Treestalker" Dusk looked back over his shoulder, there was no weasel in sight "Oh for heaven's sake, Duniya! Where are you?"

Duniya, meanwhile, had left the rest of the group and gone for a walk in the grounds. Quickly she found a good tree by the side of the abbey pond and clambered up into it, took a book from her belt pouch and began to read

Arraka gave the weasel a contemptuous look, "I'm here to offer my assistance, and knowledge of seafaring ways..." She looked the beast up and down, "Hmmmm, he must be desperate for beasts if he's letting the likes of you work for him." The art of deception was a necessary skill in her line of work, even if it meant biting your lip as you spoke words that tasted like acid.

The weasel glared at Arakka and sneered,"Just sign 'ere. Aye don't need no smack 'alk" he slid the form to the black squirell.

Rose courtesied and replied. "Pleasure to meet you all. Welcome to Redwallers abbey! Now of you'll excuse me I must see who is at the gate." She exited the room and trudged through the snow to the gate. She peered through the hole and gasped, "Lord Davidari!! It's an honor! Truly!"
Davidari smiled and replied, "The honor is all mine but could please open the gate? It is rather cold out here."

Arraka sneered right back, "Ohhh, is that a touchy spot? My my, aren't we unhappy today." The squirrel scrawled Fuscus on the appointed spot, "Well, don't sour yourself into a lemon 'afore you go 'ta bed." She left the weasel to his own musings and explored the camp, looking to see just what kind of nautical and land lubbing beasts were hanging about. The land lubbers would be easy to get rid of once they were out at Sea, and the one's that went sailing more often than not took far too great a liking to seaweed grog, a beverage easily attainable even on a ship, "Well, I'll do what I can, hope Davi, Jag, and Amaru find out soon."

OOC: She's been to Redwall for some of the feasts so she's not a stranger to anybeast on the good side.  ;)

"Burr, be's 'e the oonly une thet is noticed?" Clayclaw mumbled, then tugged his snout politely to Sister Rose, "Thurr be's a gurtly frigid und 'ungered moler here, too!"

Lassus was a creature from warm plains; not one built for trudging through snow. He finally stopped, and curled up next to a tree on the side of the path. He pulled his robes tightly around him to wait until morning.

OOC: I'm sorta skipping ahead with Lassus. There's still a lot to be done elsewhere before he actually does that; just wanted to get that out of the way.

Oh, she would be a stranger to Lassus, but so would everyone else, since he's just arriving in Mossflower. But yeah, she would know everybeast else of mine. Certainly Dari wouldn't miss a feast, even for a bat tribe!

Davidari entered the abbey and took in the beautiful scenery. Redwall Abbey, the home of his ancestors, more radiant than the sun. He then was led to Cavern Hole and brushed his trench coat saying, "Ah, nothing is as great as coming to Redwall Abbey on a snowy winter night and see your old friends all around a fire."

Zanthar was in a tavern, The Rusty Mace talking to a sailor captain about transportation to the isles of Voss. "So you can take us to Voss without the Jimanesse Navy knowing captain... er,"
"Sparra. Names Cap'n Jallek Sparra. I cap'n the vessel, The Black Abbey, for the Trident Syndicate." Said the cap'n tipping his hat.
"So your in the Trident Syndicate?" Asked Zanthar.
"I guess you could say that. I run the whole thing."

Razer was out by the Abbey pond, gazing at the water. Her bow was clenched in her hand. Next to her, an otter dibbun was lying on his stomach in front of the edge of the pond, his chin resting on the pond surface, making splashes with his hands and making little joyful noises.
"You having fun, Riallo?" Razer said with a fond look at the dibbun.
Riallo leaped into the pond, his rudder sending up droplets as he dove. When he surfaced, he giggled, "More fun if I could leave tha Abbey, mum!"

Duniya sighed, the otter had noticed her after all though that wasn't really surprising considering she had jumped out of a tree.      Arraka was seriously starting to worry, the beasts seemed to be flowing in, numbers rising without cease. After loitering around armory and vittles tents, she decided to send Redwall a message. Briefly stopping in a mess tent, she whispered, "Cara Redwall malum ortum est, cave hostium s?culo." She looked up, no beast could have known what she was doing.

OOC: Judging by his posts it's winter, so that's what I'm going with. BIC:

Welkin was surprised at the amount of travelers who just seemingly just appeared, but not only this, almost all of them seemed to know each other as well. Still, the dark-furred wildcat didn't mind, it was nice to be around sociable beasts rather than then the many thieves and robbers he had encountered on his journey.

~

Apon seeing the recruitment weasel, four black rats and two large black-clad forms marched towards him. The rats looked short and runty, armed only with short spears. The first large mysterious figure was completely hidden beneath a huge flowing cape and hood, so his species was impossible to tell. The second was dressed in black armour, and like the first, it wasn't possible to tell what sort of creature he was. It was he who stepped forward to the weasel.

"Where is your captain? I would like to speak with him."

The weasel was writing something down and said still looking at his paper, "Hey look buddy, not just anyone can see-" he stopped mid-sentance, dropping his pen, he pointed at the large black tent with the crimson strands along the side, "He... he's in there!" He studdered looking at the gaping black figures.

"Razer!" Said Davidari hugging his old friend, he then crouched down and said to Riallo, "I've never met this little fellah before!" He patted Riallo on the head and turned to Nate and Tonto. Davidari smiled at the two friends, he patted Nate and Tonto on the back and said, "Good to meet you two two as well! What's are your names?"

Abbot Amaru soon heard the message and looked at the abbey dwellers, "Now you all have gotten a Janice to meet Lord Davidari, now head off. I must talk with the elders here." He motioned at Davidari, Jag, Shadow, Razer, and why don't you newcomer join us?"

OOC: I'm assuming you meant Welkin. If not, I'm gonna look sooo stupid.  :D BIC:

Welkin's head snapped around as he realized the Abbot himself had addressed him.

"Uh, certainly sir", he spluttered. "It's an honour!"

He'd be lying if he said he wasn't nervous, only a chosen handful had been selected, although he was slightly reassured as he noticed a couple of his own species had been chosen too. Well, they certainly didn't discriminate species here! He wasn't sure what the meeting was about, but from the chatter of the reunited creatures it was something to do with danger from the north.

~

The tall black-armoured beast dismissed the weasel with a single nod, and beckoned his companions to follow him. Arriving at the indicated tent, the amoured beast moved the flap aside for the cloaked figure, who stepped gingerly inside.

"I have heard tell of a ship, that will be sailing from Mossflower soon." the mysterious hooded figure uttered.  "Is there any chance me and my servants might set sail with yer?"

Abbey. Although, you would seem a potential asset...." he leaned back in his chair and stroked his chin. He thought of how he could use then for his attack. "Alright, your both officers."

Abbot Amaru gathered the woodlanders around a table and said, "My friend in Agutrot, Arakka, has alerted me about an evil brewing in Mossflower. A so called long forgotten enemy."

Before he had thought through his statement, Jag snorted, saying, "Aye, we ain't got much to go on.  Just some vague, mysterious report that could mean anythin'!"

The black she-cat glared at her husband, as if willing him to shut up.

"Er, sorry, Padre...  No disrespect to yer friend.  Just... oh, never mind."

In the meantime she sent a signal that she had only informed Amaru himself as to the meaning. The squirrel casually flicked her fingers in the direction of Redwall, this in turn caused a deeper, more ethereal sound to come from the bell. Kliegh Sholdron let the cold wind whip at him; he didn't care, for he did his best work in the cold. Steamy breath wisped out from under his helmet as he peered through its eye slits. Ahead there was a place called Agutrot, and he wished to see if he could get any work there; life had been far too slow of late. After a little more walking, the ferret picked the first group of beasts he saw and tapped a rat on the shoulder. "I'm looking for work; know of anybeast who needs help?"
The rat pointed a claw. "That way. There's a big gatherin' happening an' more are a'comin' in every day. Might be your type of job," He added, looking at his armor with greedy eyes.
"Good. Thank you. Eh, by the way," Kliegh said, putting his paw on the rat's arm. "You look a little cold."
The rat gasped and pulled back as his arm suddenly became almost frozen. The ferret turned tail on the confused rat and walked in the direction of the growing 'gathering'.

In the realm of spirits, He who Walks in Shadows stood facing a stern-faced mouse wearing armour and carrying a sword. The fox attempted to reason with the mouse "Come now, there must be something you want, something you'd be willing to give up this abbey for?" the mouse shook his head "Not now, nor ever will I give up this abbey" the fox growled
"You must listen to reason, everybody has a price"
"Not me demon, I will guard this abbey until its very foundations crumble"
"So be it!" The fox drew his katana and launched himself at the mouse, wings sprouting from his back as he did so, he swung his sword downwards as he neared his target. The warrior raised his sword and blocked the strike, vibrations ran through both spirit's hands and they dug their heels into the ethereal soil. He who Walks in Shadows pushed with all his might, the mouse warrior stumbled and the fox pressed his attack, swinging with a blow that would surely result in his victory but the mouse threw up his blade and they met with a clash. The fox growled and stepped back, the mouse warrior followed, the ruby on his sword hilt glittered in the strange light of the spirit world. This time it was the mouse who struck first, his sword whistling through the air, the blades clashed again but this time the fox pulled away from the lock and swung his sword horizontally at the mouse who immediately blocked downwards, the fox' blade flashed upward and nicked the mouses throat. The mouse kicked out and the fox went sailing back. He who Walks in Shadows managed to control himself so that he landed on his feet in a warriors crouch. The mouse charged him but the fox met his attack and their blades flashed in deadly patterns as each sought an opening that would destroy the other. He who Walks in Shadows had met his match, he and this mouse would continue fighting in the spirit world for all eternity unless he did something. But He who Walks in Shadows was clever, throughout the fight he had been slowly leading the mouse away from the abbey. Suddenly a tendril of shadow wrapped itself around his opponent and threw him even further away from the abbey, the fox did not miss his chance and launched himself into the air as shadowy black feather wings sprouted from his back. Some sixth sense made him turn around, his eyes widened and he threw up his sword, blocking a wild onslaught from the mouse who had sped towards him with bright white wings which rivaled the darkness of his own. The fox sighed in exasperation as they fought, didn't this guy ever give up?

OOC: Abbot, please dis-allow this. NOBEAST can even contend with Martin, this is God-modding in just about the worst form I've ever seen it take. You simply cannot put up any type of fight against such a warrior as Martin. You fight with Martin, he kills you, END OF STORY. Martin's too smart to be kited around a fight either, Redwall is his priority and he simply would not leave the Abbey un-defended. Being able to be in the "spirit" world is already incredibly iffy, but this is just downright unfair.

OOC: Excuse me but Martin is not unbeatable, Tsarmina almost killed him and that was the only major fight we ever see him in. Also I think it's pretty clear that HwWiS knows he can't beat him, which is why he is trying to use trickery. HwWiS himself is dead (well not exactly), how else would you be able to make things appear out of shadows? The only reason he's trying to get inside Redwall is because he senses magic in the place and wants to destroy it which was why he was following Dusk's group earlier (at the time he did not realise that Wisp had magic because there was so much of it around). Earlier, as I said, he was in agonising pain when he touched the stones which is why he is trying to contend with Martin. It is also going to end in Martin beating him hollow and him giving up so I don't see what your problem is. As I said Martin is not unbeatable, he was an amazing warrior but Boar would be able to defeat him easily as he was his teacher and a badger, in fact I think that most badger lords would be able to beat Martin providing they weren't afflicted by bloodwrath. I challenge you to find once in the entire series where it is said that Martin is unbeatable (HwWiS is not going to beat him because honestly he doesn't have enough skill but that is beside the point, it never says Martin is unbeatable unless it was some abbey dweller admiring him)

EDIT: In case you needed proof that HwWiS cannot enter Redwall
QuoteThe fox disappeared again and reappeared next to Redwall's wall "Now now, that's not very friendly" he leaned back against the wall, his body tensed, his eyes bulged in his face and he screamed.

Kliegh found the recruiter, the weasel, and signed up, not fully aware of the army's intentions nor really caring at the moment; it was better than sitting in the mud for seasons waiting for something to happen.
He stayed away from the fires spotted around, coming across a group of creatures in a bunch. He walked up to them and removed his helmet.
"Good day, sirs. How long until we leave to wherever we're going?"
Another ferret turned and looked at him up and down. "I don't remember seein' you about; a new one, eh? Well, all ya need to know is da big boss wants to take over a place called 'Allred Stabby' or something like that, and you don't argue with Zanzuth Deathhound!"
Kliegh's sharp blue eyes widened slightly. "Zanzuthari Deathhound?"
"Aye," said the ferret, looking curiously at him. "You heard o' him?"
"Oh, I've heard of him. Just didn't know he was in charge here. Ehm, did you mean 'Redwall Abbey'?"
He thought for a moment then burst out laughing. "Aharr harr harr! So I did! Hey, Glumsnout, this 'ere ferret just remembered the name o' that place: tis Redwall Abbey, not Allred Stabby! Aharr harr haaaarrrrrrr!"

Leaving the group, Kliegh hid his worried face behind his helmet. Redwall Abbey? How could he attack those peacefull creatures, who helped him so many seasons ago? But he could not leave; he had signed up, and would be recognized easily if he left, and surely branded as a turn tail, and possibly killed. Maybe something might happen, and he could slow down the army. But against the Deathhound? He would need help.

OOC: AbbotAlf0809, are you posting from an ipod or some thing similar? That might explain the random word appearances.

BIC: Muchlik had volunteered to go on ahead and scout out the path ahead of the main group. He would report back to them once they were on the trail.

The sun still hadn't risen as he walked in the shadows at the edge of the tree line following the path. Every once in a while the moon would shine of his helmet as he passed through a clearing.

*snap!*

The sound of a stick breaking was heard behind him. He drew his dagger from his thigh holster. He had always been a dagger fighter but carried a rapier for better armoured enemies.

He smelled the foul breath of a vermin behind him and swung around digging his dagger in to a it's shoulder. The stoat's cry was cut short as the mouse chieftain sliced his dagger across his throat as he ran past him after another vermin who he saw run into the woods.

The chase might have gone on had he not shot a stone from his sling as the scum poked his head out from behind a far away tree.

He hadn't wanted to kill him, b/c he wanted information, but he needed to stop the vermin from escaping.

It took Muchlik some time to get back to the path again, especially since he had to take care of the other half a score of vermin who had been waiting in ambush. He had picked them off one by one like the first two. But he got the feeling that they were a press gang, due to the fact that many of them had chains, and that they had no way of knowing about the group of warriors coming up this way at dawn.

Dusk had found Duniya, she was pressed into the corner of the battlements, she sighed as he flew towards her "What do you want Dusk?" she asked
"Kalayo says he's regained enough energy and he warmed Vadis up a bit and you know what that means"
"Practice time" replied Duniya bitterly as she returned the book to its pouch and stood up
"Precisely" replied Dusk "we're doing it behind the abbey, no use startling them"

Duniya followed him down the steps and across the lawn to the back of the abbey where the rest of the group were waiting. "Is everyone ready?" asked Dusk and they all nodded and took their places "Alright then, let's start this" The bat flapped his wings wide and a large tornado shot out of his body and stood spinning around between them all "Kalayo!" called Dusk and the fox stretched out his paw. A stream of fire shot out from it into the tornado where it was spun and twisted by the sheer force of the tornado "Keep it going, keep it going" encouraged the bat "Vadis, now!" the young otter took a run up and thrust his paws downwards. Water shot out of them and he was launched into the air. As he flew across the top of the tornado he did a few acrobatic twists and turns. He flung his arms into it and two whips of water joined the maelstrom. As Vadis landed on the other side Duniya was already running forward, pillars of rock shot up underneath her as she ran, and she used them as steps as she spiraled towards the top of the tornado, when she reached the lip she leaped into the air and drew three balls of earth out and threw them in where they whirled around with the fire and water. She landed on all fours on the ground which showed no signs that it had ever been disturbed. "Come on Jenna, it's your turn! Hurry up!" the strain on Dusk's face was evident. The female otter ran forward and shot three arrows into the whirling mass. As they joined the tornado it split into five smaller ones, one containing nothing, one containing fire, one containing water, one containing earth and one containing arrows. The small tornadoes shot outward and circled around their respective mage's heads before winking out of existence. Dusk fluttered down to the floor, he had a tired look on his face, Murlo ran up to him "You need to make that tornado less grand, look what it's done to you"
"It hasn't done anything" said Dusk stubbornly, none of them were buying it
"Yeah right" said Kalayo "Murlo's right Dusk, you can't handle it"
"Fine, I'll bear that in mind in future"

Razer woke up before dawn. Going outside to look for the group, she spotted Riallo trailing behind her, trying to be inconspicuous but failing. The otter lady turned around. "Riallo? Why're you up so early?"
"Ah'm comin' on the quest!" replied Riallo, smiling innocently.
"No you're not," said Razer firmly, crossing her scarred arms across her chest. "I'm not gonna have ye get hurt."
"Me no get hurt. Me strong, use mum's sword." The otter dibbun pointed a little paw at Razer's dagger, firmly placed on her waist.
"I said no, Riallo," said Razer. Taking her son's paw, she took him, whining and protesting, back to his dormitory. Seeing the distraught look on his face, she added more sympathetically, "I'm sorry, matey. Just don't want ye to get hurt is all. Ye stay at the abbey and guard it, ok?"
"Yes, mum," said Riallo.
"The abbey's in safe paws with our little otter warrior," said Razer, amused. She hugged Riallo and went back on her way.

Zanthar looked at his lieutenants and shouted, "How long until the Jimanesse Navy is on our doorstep?!" Miharig tryed to calm down his general, "Sir, we predict a week, I suggest we move camp." Zanthar pointed at the door of his tent, "Then go do it! Now!"

Miharig tapped Zanthar on the shoulder and whispered I his ear. Zanthar nodded slowly and sent his men at ease. He then entered his tent to see a large black robed creature sitting in his chair. The strange twisted mask covering his face and silent as death. Zanthar kneeled before him and said, "Abbot Foh... What is thy bidding my master?" Abbot Foh motioned for ZNthar to rise and uttered, "Zanzuthari, you must hurry up your attack. You have been sitting to long. Now Redwallers are en route to Agutrot as we speak.  You need to act soon! My agents have already alerted the Empire of Voss about your actions and they are willing to serve. I also have gained the support of some members of the Trident Syndicate, The Corsair Lords of Samptera. Although the bounty hunters guild is solely neutral and the smugglers union is loyal to Salamandastron. Your brothers are strictly defying you. Not good family trait."      Arraka knew from experience that she wouldn't have a better chance to slip away for a message than during camp breaking. Disappearing was quite easy, as expected, making her way to a secluded spot on the outskirts of the city she send her message, "In exercitu ortum huic in civitate, et quo magis recedit a hellgates nefas est." As the squirrel made her way back, the reverberation of her message resounded at Redwall, "An Army has risen in this accursed city, lead by a horror from hellgates itself." She slipped back into camp by a tent being taken down by a distracted vermin and a strange beast that looked more.... Nervous? Nervousness was not an emotion Arraka expected in these creatures.

OOC: Referencing Kliegh here.  ;)

All the snow melted as it fell upon Wisp. He was quite cozy, actually, despite the weather. He kept a swift pace behind Davidari, hoping to engage him in conversation soon. He felt awkward, being a vermin among such nice woodlanders. Finally, he worked up the courage to speak.

"Davidari, sir. I would like to be a service to this mission in some way. Is there anything I could do for you and your fellow companions?"

Backing away from the tent, Kliegh noticed something out of the corner of his vision. Turning, he saw something. A dark-furred squirrel? Here in a camp of vermin?
Peculiar.
Momentarily putting aside his worries, he stepped toward the creature, half ready to pull his blade out if anything went pear-shaped.

Davidari was rather suppressed at the vermin standing before them. Very few times had a vermin not attacked them and spoke to them like this. He bore somewhat of a half smile and replied, "What could bear to offer? I mean, what use could you be to us? If you wish I join our party, you must display your skills to us."

Zanthar looked out at his army as they left the scumy city of Agutrot, "We march to Mossflower, make camp at St. Ninians Church." Miharig nodded, "Yes Lord Zanthar. I have informed the Corsair Republic to meet us at Redwall during the attack. Same with the Imperials."

Apparently this vermin wasn't as stupid as most, he stood and started to move in her direction. Pretending not to notice, she extended the hidden blade on her right arm so as to conceal its' existence from the approaching ferret. Arraka decided to give the beast a last chance before having to deal with a sticky situation, discarding with a body wasn't the easiest even with her speed. Turning her head she spoke sharply, "What are you looking at?" This phrase, while simple, should trigger a response from the target to see if he needed to be slain or not... Hopefully not.

OOC: Be careful if you try to get into a "tussle," Arraka plays for keeps, and if she goes sound wave on you you're pretty much dead unless you have a strong counter. Just be careful with what you say and do, if you start it then she won't try to just kill you outright (as everybeast would be looking and she'd be limited as to what magic she could use while still keeping her cover) and should provide enough time for them to figure out that they're on the same side.  ;)

What are you looking at?
"Just a beast I am curious about. Tell me, strange squirrel, why you have joined this," Kliegh thought for a moment, "Unwelcoming army? While you seem dangerous, you also don't seem the type to attack the place called Redwall Abbey. For that is where we are headed, is it not? So answer, unless you want to taste the bite of cold steel." He patted the pommel meaningfully, and peered through his eye slits at Arraka. He didn't want to hurt him, much. But if it was a fight to happen, the dark squirrel would get a run for it's money.

OOC: Kliigh is a skilled fighter and he is wearing armor, so yeah. He also uses ice magic (as apparent by his name, Kliegh "Icepaw") Hope Arraka doesn't mind the cold. ;D
Nah, they won't end up killing each other (as far as I will go) just test their strength and find out which side they are on.

As the vast horde marched through Mossflower, Zanthar ordered the army to stop for a water break. The vermin began to fill their water jugs, several arrows began to fly out from the woods around them. "Get to cover!" Shouted Miharig as an arrow his the rat next to him. Then several fox samurais leaped from the surrounding foliage. "Blast! The Jimanesse army! Men, attack!!!"

Before anybeast could blink, Arraka struck her arm out, halting it so that the hidden blade would be just a foot from Kliigh's chest, "A phantom threatened, only leads to the demise of the one foolish enough to cast such threats. You've earned no answer, and my purpose is nary yours to know." Her hood tilted back just far enough to let the warning in her eyes blaze through to this potential foe. She turned to "help" with the sudden appearance of the hounds foreign attackers. She quickly targeted who appeared to be leading the Jimanesse and spoke earnestly to his mind, "Their are too many! Pattern your soldiers in a shoot and retreat weave maneuver with the focus on the retreat, there are just too many of them!" Arraka looked up and dropped the hand from the side of her head that she had used to focus on the fox.

This squirrel was acting very odd. Kliegh really had no intention of killing her (?); he was just eager to find someone with his own problems.
Wait, did she say, phantom? Oh dear.
He stubbornly vowed to find out more at a later time.
He was suddenly aware of his eminent danger: a Jimanesse fox charged him, katana raised above his head. Pulling out his own sword, the ferret met the blade with the clang of metal. Don't kill him, he's an ally in his ignorance, Kliegh thought. Any who were going to stop Zanzuth's horde couldn't be all bad. He put his left paw in near the fox's face and blasted it with freezing air. The Jimanesse soldier gasped and stepped back as the side of his face froze unexpectedly. The ferret proceeded to freeze the fox's chest also, slowing down his heart. It wouldn't kill him, just temporarily render him useless. He held his sword in a fighting stance lest any attack again.

Wisp looked at Davidari questioningly. "Ah yes. I should have known being a vermin could affect my trust with some of you. If you want a demonstration of my skills, you may want to step back a ways..."

He grinned and set his paws aflame, and spread it to the nearest tree. Soon the entire tree was blazing. The tree was forced upward, into the air. He brought it back down into a nearby creek, sizzling and steaming.

"And, if that wouldn't help you at all, I could make friends with vermin enemies who most-likely wouldn't trust you..."

OOC: This is going so fast, and I don't have the time to read all the responses; my internet has been all wonky. Could anyone fill me in?

And what about Lassus? I sorta had him escaping vermin and being lost to give other people who are wandering Mossflower a companion, but he's been left out in the cold.

BIC: The Jimanesse began to falter and retreat back into the woods. The leader of the troops tried to rally his men in vain but soon retreated himself cursing Zanthar. Zanthar smirked slyly and yelled at him, "Your forces are no match for my horde Shogun Wataru! Haha!!"

Davidari nodded and replied to the vermin, "You seem to have potential... very well. You may join us just make sure I don't regret it."

Kliegh dragged the unconscious fox to an inconspicuous area at the edge of camp. He patted the fox's cheek with the back of his paw. "Sleep tight, sunshine. You'll wake up with a dreadful cold, but you'll be fine. For now, just lay quiet." The fox didn't respond, but only breathed lightly. The ferret hustled back to the rest of the horde.

As Kliegh stood and turned to go back to the horde, Arraka stepped in front and once again held her hidden blade mere inches from the ferret's chest, "So, a traitor to the hound?" She looked up just enough to let her eyes bore into her potential prey, "I'm sure you know what happens to those who double-cross their leaders." The squirrel had noticed curious behavior in the vermin, and decided to test him. If he passed the test, she would have a fellow spy to consort with... But if he failed, he'd be one less vermin for the Mossflower army to deal with.

Zanthar often would like to go on private walks by himself. It did not seems very evil but it was what he liked. He walked away from the camp and climbed into a tree, looking intro the sky he removed his helmet, "Oh mother... what would you think ôf me right now?..." he became very sad but held in his sorrow and sang a song he had heard growing up from his father.

The ferret smiled under his helmet. "A traitor? Is taking out an enemy without killing treason? Indeed, you are a strange one. Well, as long as you have me at death's edge, we can talk. You don't seem like a creature to kill without reason; that said, you don't seem like a creature to side with the Deathhound or kill for him. Neither am I.
You try not to kill either. You're a squirrel; most squirrels hate us vermin type, and rarely side with us. We're marching for Redwall, a place for peaceful creatures, mice and squirrels like yourself." He took his helmet off and looked Arraka in the eyes. "You're here to stop him, aren't you?"

Arraka was somewhat more relieved, but still wary and cautious as vermin were well known for deception. While they generally weren't the brightest, they knew their way around treachery and deception very well, maybe this beast before her was trying to expose her real intentions. That is, until he took off his helmet. She stared into his eyes, often referred to as the doorway to a beasts heart, she listened intently to what his heart cried out and his heart proved his honesty. Arraka retracted her arm and blade before pulling the edge of her hood back down. With a wry semi-grin she responded to his words, "No, I guess it's not really treason... Not like I care one way or another, I'm just glad I don't have a mess to clean up." She continued with a more serious approach as she turned to head back to the horde, "What do you know? I have a means of communicating with the forces that are opposing this devil and they need all the information they can get."

Kliegh gnawed his lip. "I'm afraid that all I know is where we're going, who's leading, and the other side is going to have a lot of trouble. Didn't realize it was the Deathhound; infernal beast just won't stay dead, or so I hear. Oh, there were a few strange, cloaked beasts that went into his tent. Looked like they were mages of some kind. You might have already seen them.
And Redwall. I hope you've warned them. Seasons ago they cared for me. I've never returned the favor and have no intention of killing innocent creatures."
He stuffed his helmet back on and extended a paw. "If you are really against them, then you have my word that I will help you. Will you let me?"

Arraka shook hands, "Though I may do my own work best alone, friends, allies, and the like are always welcome. Only a fool would turn such things down, and I for one have no intention of playing the fool." She pondered, "I'll have to check into these potential mages as they always pose the greatest threat, do you know much magic?"

Davidari led the company through the night towards the sespool of Agutrot when he halt led the party, "Stop! Do you hear that?" He pulled out his sword slowly and keeper the the edge of the wood line, peering into the darkness. Suddenly, a pair of yellow eyes opened and a large weasel jumped out and punched on him. Davi fell back, dropping his sword, and wrestled the weasel off of him. Drawing his cutlass, the weasel lunged at Davidari only to have him draw the dirk from his boot and block the blow.

Shadow, bow raised and an arrow strung, was sweeping the perimeter, searching for other beasts that may have ill intent.  She first searched low to the ground and, once satisfied, started searching in the trees.  That was before she got tackled.

At first, the black queen thought she could still loose an arrow into the unknown intruder's midriff, but it turned out that in the process of being attacked, she'd let go of the string, letting the arrow fly into a nearby tree.

Next, Shadow attempted clawing at her foe's sides until it let go, but the attacker had her pinned down.

"What are you doing here?" an angry voice hissed.  "Why are you here?"

"Shade, wait!" another, more familiar voice cried.  "They're friends!"

Suddenly, the weight on the female's body let up, and she was finally able to see the beast.  As far as she could tell, it was a wildcat, but its face was severely disfigured and mostly hidden in the shadow of a dark hood.

While Shadow had been trying to determine who the beast may be, another stepped into her vicinity.  A female mouse.

"Chelonia?" she asked, standing and starting to brush herself off.  "Is that you?"

The ex-thief ran forward and embraced her friend.  "It's so good to see you, Shadow!  Are the rest of your family here?"

"Jag is, and so's Davidari and Muchlik.  What are you doing here?  And who's this?"

Chelonia glanced at the other beasts, not paying much attention to the captured weasel or the new faces.  She smiled at Davidari and waved to Muchlik before turning back to Shadow.  "I was going to Redwall to warn you about a threat in Mossflower.  See, Shade," she gestured to the wildcat, who was still baring her teeth at Shadow, "is a new found friend of mine.  She infiltrated a vermin camp recently, learning that there was a horde that had passed by the day before.  Many of the vermin had joined with the group, only being told that they were going to be rich beyond their wildest dreams.  My thought is that they're going to the abbey.  That may not be true, but..."

At this point, the hooded vermin turned her back to the females and shuffled slowly into the undergrowth before crouching down and fumbling about for something.

"What's he doing?" the black she-cat whispered to Chelonia.

"She," the mousemaid corrected.  "Shade's blind.  She's, ah, searching for her staff.  Got a bit startled when she heard you walking along, and smelled wildcat, so she attacked.  Sorry about that, by the way."

 "No problem."

"I know you two are talking about me," Shade growled, slowly making her way back to the duo.  "Y'know, you never told me who you were."

"Oh, sorry, I'm Shadow.  Shadow Wildfire."  Shadow held out a paw in greeting, but the other female didn't accept.  Shortly after, she realized that Shade probably couldn't see her paw.  She took it back.

The hooded figure seemed to flinch a bit at the name, but didn't say anything.  Instead, she made her way to the other beasts, her sightless eyes glaring at each of them.  Her nose twitched, trying to place the scents with their species, and she finally stopped beside a weasel-smelling one.

"Who're you?" she demanded, not realizing that he was incapacitated at the moment.

Arraka nodded, "Good to know, but we best be headed back, and quickly too lest we raise suspicion." The dark squirrel flew into the trees and made her way to the horde, putting blood on one of her blades and converging on a side so that there would be no questions, she had obviously gone after a straggler.

Welkin slunk back into the shadows of the group, annoyed with himself. He felt he had to prove himself among the group, to show he wasn't a waste of space. The wildcat had hesitated to use his powers at an ideal time, when that weasel had attacked Davidari. He wondered if he should leave the group, he wasn't doing anything useful. But no. He was sworn to protect the lands of evil, even if his part was small.

~

Karnac the boar lent back in chair, admiring the pelts of cretures the cavas of the tent was made up of. The Deathhound had been most generous, lending a tent to him and his servants. He sighed. It would be nice to have a mighty horde such as this one day. But he doubted it would be this horde. Deathhound and his associates were no fools. At one time Karnac had reckoned he might be able to outfox the leaders of this great army, but now he knew that was not possible. The forces were too great.

A slow smile rippled across his ravaged features. Evantually they would take Redwall. Finally he could extract his revenge on those wretched creatures. He had waited years for this.

A cloud moved away from the moon, exposing the white silvery light that streamed down on the trees of Mossflower wood.

Muchlik had just recently doubled back down the path to join the main company.

"Mostly clear ahead Davi, only a few press gangs lurking in vegetation. I dealt with one of the larger group, they won't be bothing us any more". He had reported to his brother-in-law.

So after a weasle attack and a wildcat miss-understanding, one of his best friends showed up. And what a pleasant suprise it was after  his rather unpleasant evening of fighting vermin.

She was more bonny than he had remembered. After all she had grow and matured as much as he had in the past year or two.

He now had to admit to him-self that she had indeed been a large part of the reason he had traveled down here in the first place.

He hoped that his helmet's cheek guard hid his blushing face as she waved to him. The white furred mouse plucked up his courage to walk over to her.

Coming to a stop in front over her, he smiled and asked "How have you been". Which on the moments notice was the only thing he could come up with to say.

Davidari looked at Wisp, "Knock him unconscious. We must press onward before the moo is nigh. The enemy is encamped nearby and we NCG discover their location. I suggest we split into teams. Any preferences anyone?"

Zanthar returned to the camp rather gloomy, he walked slowly to his tent and sighed as he entered. He sat in his chair, dismissing his servants, he pulled out an old piece of parchment. It was a small illustration of a young otter-maiden and a young looking fox warrior outside of a fortress. Although the fortress seamed ominous, the fox and otter had their arms around each other. He then sighed heavily.

The weasel gave one last whimper before Wisp delived a swift blow to the back of his neck.
He walked over to where Muchlik and Chelonia were. He offered his paw to shake, but drew it back swiftly. He blew out some fire that was still lit upon his forepaw, and then re-offered it. He tried to smile, but felt terribly awkward trying to interact with someone who seemed nice for once.

Dari winged over Mossflower, ecolocation guiding his route. The air was cold, but wonderfully clear, and he could feel the moonlight wonderfully. He didn't know air currents like a bird, being a creature who spent most of its life in caves(he was probably the exception), but he had working knowledge, and knew them well enough to appreciate them when they were good. He suddenly noticed a large group of beasts nearby. An army camp of some sort. Curious, he dropped down a short ways to listen in.

Aaaaaaand that was just his luck. Lassus was captured by vermin again, and this time, there was far too many to cause a petty squabble in, and escape unnoticed. It was a veritable army, and he wouldn't be leaving anytime soon.

  "How have you been?"

Chelonia thought about this for a second, wondering if she should reply honestly or with the usual response of "Fine".  She decided on honesty.  "Um, a bit tired and overwhelmed, but Shade's been able to take some of the weight off my shoulders as of recently, so that's really nice."

Shade's ears perked up and she turned her head, asking, "What?  Did you say my name?"

  "Oh, nothing," the mousemaid replied.

Jag walked slowly up to the blind she-cat and cleared his throat, announcing that he was next to her.  "I'm Jag," he stated with a slightly forced smile.  "So... er, you known Chelonia for awhile?"

Shade shrugged, still trying to figure out why the weasel scent smelled burnt.  "Few seasons, not very long."  Then she fell back into silence.

This is awkward, the white tom thought to himself.  He again cleared his throat and nodded good day to Shade, then started back towards his wife.  So much for friendly conversation.

Razer had drifted from the group, wanting some time for herself. Why are we even doing this? What are - or who - are we looking for? I don't even know what's going on here. I need answers. She reached out with her arm and plucked a few leaves from an ash tree, letting the wind blow them away. Suddenly looking around, she noticed how far she had gotten from the group. She didn't even know where the others were anymore. Maybe a walk by myself wasn't a good idea after all..

He drew his sword and motioned for the teams to split up. He led his group down through the small forest valley searching for signs of press gangs.

Miharig stood motionless, leaned up against a tree scanning the dark forest for any signs of movement. He managed to keep his balance quite well on the sturdy branch heels on. He had now at the ready with an arrow at the strong waiting.

Wisp walked alongside Shadow and Jag. For some reason, he preferred the cats to the mouse. Of course, he still felt awkward. Wisp, though a powerful Pyromancer, was paranoid. He flinched at every twig snapping, and shuddered at every shadow. He needed fire, but that wasn't an option, not now.

Shade's lips twitched in a smile, Shadow noticed, as Wisp spoke.  She wondered just how fond of hurting others this she-cat was, and if she would turn on them.

Fixing her eyes on Chelonia, the black wildcat tried to figure out why she and Shade were friends.  They didn't seem to have much in common, aside from the fact that they were both thieves.  Or, at least, she thought Shade was a thief.

Meanwhile, Jag was surprised - and pleased - with the sable's aim.  "Nice throw," he commented, giving a friendly smile.

"Thank you." He said with a warm smile. Though he was complimented on the success of a more macabre task, a compliment was a compliment. He liked it, with these beasts. They treated him kindly, and he liked it much better than the solitude of his cavern.

He especially liked the cats. They seemed more laid back, and had an easy way of life. They were, of course, friendly. The problem was the obvious, he wasn't a cat.

Razer was still separated from the group.

"Look what you've done now," she murmured to herself angrily as she stalked trough the unfamiliar woods,  bow at paw. She scaled a tree and stood looking around to sight anything but saw nothing she could recognize. Suddenly, she thought she saw a flash of fox fur out of the corner of her eye. Fox? She squinted at the fur, then climbed down an started to make her way to where she had seen it. "Who goes there?" she called out loud when she felt she was close.

OOC: I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. The fox is supposed to be Zanthar.

Arraka listened as the hound bellowed, wincing as the sound grated on her ears, "Keep that up and I just might forget about justice's close relationship with fairness and kill you anyway." Not much of what was happening was note worthy... That ferret over by the storage tent tripped on a peg again, clumsy oaf. Her ears were surrounded by a motley assemblage of un-friendly beasts, there was only one to whom she could re-focus. That creature being the strange fox, she passed her gaze in the direction she had last heard him. Listening to his encounters helped the squirrel to gain more patience when trying to listen to everything else, making the observance less difficult.

"Make your move soon Davidari, waiting only provokes more blood shed."

Davidari heard the loud noise as he crept through the forest. He halted in his tracks listening for the sound again, as none was heard he moved towards the encampment and saw Arakka. He then motioned to the squirrel to come hither but remain unseen.

Arraka heard Davidari before she saw him. Having guessed his intentions, she whispered to his ears, and his ears alone, "Coming, have everybeast cover their ears." The dark squirrel had been semi-looking at the woodlanders position, but shifted to pear in the opposite direction with both her gaze and her hearing. The next time a bird chirped, or traveler sang, their would be a ruckus not soon forgotten!

Razer gasped and stumbled in front of Zanthar. "Za-anthar?" Her bow feel out of lifeless paws. "No, you're dead. But you're standing in front of me! Am I hallucinating again?" The otter spoke her thoughts out loud. "This can't be real, you're dead..are you related to Zanthar? Does Zanthar have a son?" She stared at the fox, openmouthed and stricken.

Davidari nodded and ordered the other woodlanders to cover their wars as the black squirrel had instructed them to.

Zanthar looked at the ottermaiden, mouth open, he dropped the demonic trident from his claws and peeled the helm from his face revealing the ghastly scar from the adder many seasons ago a single tear fell down his evil face, "R.... Razer?!"

Arraka's patience was rewarded with a sparrow chirp. One that was soon to set a record. She closed her eyes and focused on the sound, expanding and contracting it. Shaping it into a transparent substance. She unleashed the pool which proceeded to create a monstrosity. The sound was deafening and forceful, creating a visible shock wave as it blew everything over near it. During the mass confusion and terror that ensued, the squirrel dashed off to the woodlanders without giving anybeast time to recover.

Kliegh was knocked off his paws by the mysterious and powerful sound. He tore off his helmet, the sound waves reverberating inside the steel armor. His head pounded and his ears rang; the ferret stood slowly and tried to find the strange squirrel.
"Danged, mysterious, unhelpful. . ." He noticed her running off in the woodlands, and stumbled after her, shoving back on his helmet. He gritted his teeth as he clanked as quickly as he could after her. "Nice warning, I'd like to try that again some time," he muttered to himself.

Stepping toward a mouse-smelling beast who was speaking to the other wildcats, the she-cat asked, "Are we going to do something stealthy?  Because I can help with that.  I could distract the vermin or something, as I do look quite like one."  She gestured to both her features and her attire.

Wisp smiled a wicked smile, a smile full of potential death. He walked calmly into the middle of the fray and began shooting huge columns of fire and smoke in all directions. He began to laugh. This was music to his ears. Sizzling grass, shrieking enemies, hearing the heart of fire itself. The light from it glinted off his fangs as the putrid smell of burning flesh began to fill the air. It was nearly impossible to see through the smoke, but it was all blown away with a final blast of fire.

All the grass around him was black, or non-existent. The earth was charred, and bits of sand were turned to glass. The only grass or foliage left was the forest behind him, and about three feet of grass around all of his friends.

He knelt to the ground, panting. He was smiling, this time a glint in his eyes much darker than before. He was still laughing, but hoarsely, and exhausted.
He turned to the group and spoke in a voice that one did not like to hear.

"How did I do?"

As his paws pattered along the loamy soil and leaves, he remembered his manners. He stuck out a well extinguished forepaw.

"I'm sorry, I've forgotten my manners. I don't believe I've properly introduced myself. I'm Wisp Blazebrand. And you are?"

Razer pricked her ears and sprinted towards the source of the sound. Crashing through some bushes, she stopped in front of Davidari. "Oh, Davidari! I'm really sorry for getting lost. Did anything happen?"

"We should get going," Kliegh murmured. "We don't know when something else is gonna happen." He looked at Razer through his eye slits; so, this was their friend. "You look like you've seen a ghost," he chuckled.

Both Shadow and Jag shook their heads.  "No," Shadow said, "who are they?"

Shade, meanwhile, gritted her teeth when the mouse spoke the name.  She had a feeling that it was some sort of goodbeast organization that frowned upon thieves and vermin.  They most certainly wouldn't want somebeast like the blind she-cat in their group, now, would they?  But if Chelonia was going to be with this particular gang of misfits or whatever, Shade would stay as well.

Davidari replied, "The Cadre, is an ancient order of assassins and magicians. They have pledged their alligence to te Knight Tribe since te days of Luke the Warrior. They may seem to be vermin, but they are good people at heart. I shall travel to their monastery while the rest of you prepare Redwall for invasion. Actually, Razer and Arraka come with me. The rest of you head back and prepare for the return of Zanzuthari Deathhound and the oblivion he shall bring."

BIC: Davidari waved goodbye to his companions as he, Arraka and Razer head for the north to contact the Cadre. "I do hope that the myth his true..." he muttered to himself, "We could use a miracle about now..."

Zanthar paced back and forth in his tent impatiently until a hooded figure entered the room. Clad in a robe of crimson and black, he held out his paw with a strangely crest ring upon it. Zanthar kneeled and kissed it, rising he said, "What is thy bidding my master? Shall we proceed onto out attack on the abbey? Or shall we continue to build our forces?" The strange figure replied in an ominous voice, "Neither for the time being my loyal servant. Send our assassin, Miharig, to the north. I have sensed the power of the sword shift in that direction. Who knows what the woodlanders could be planning." Zanthar nodded, "Shall I send word to our forces in Myrandale? Or what of the spies in Noonvale?"
"No Lord Deathhound, I believe they may Prehaps be contacting our old enemies... the Cadre..."

BIC: Davidari marched along the side of a stream, headed northwards in search of the ancient order of assassins, the Cadre. "So, have either of you two heard any myths or tales of the Cadre?" He said looking back at Razer and Arraka.

Jag clapped the badger on his large shoulder, saying, "Aye, they may be interestin', but they're good.  Don't you worry now, Stone, they won't cause any trouble."  Then, with a wink, he walked into the abbey, Shadow following close behind.  She smiled at the badgerpa and nodded slightly in greeting before passing by him.

Meanwhile, Chelonia walked beside Muchlik, barely noticing the badger as they walked through the gate.  "So, tell me again, Much, what have you been doing since we last saw each other?"

Shade sighed heavily as she entered the abbey grounds behind the mice.  She'd hoped she would never have to go to a place filled with peace-loving beasts.  It was against her nature to ally with those sorts, and it disgusted her to be anywhere near them.  But she'd promised Chel she would go through with this and help the mouse's friends, so the only thing she could really do was sigh and hope they'd face some real action soon.

OOC:  Oh, hey, look, my characters are alive still!  :P  Bleh, I don't really like this post, but I felt I should probably say something so it doesn't look like I've quit the RP.

Kliegh jabbed a claw over his shoulder. "They've gone on another quest, trying to get some help from some beasts called 'Cadre'." The ferret drew his sword and stuck in the ground in front of him, bowing toward the Abbot. "Father Abbot, I presume? It's been too long since I last came to your abbey.        Arraka had taken her usual place at the back of the train, listening for any and everything. She stayed quiet for almost the entire trip, after their journey had gone on for what seemed like ages, she spoke, "Half a step left Davi, wouldn't want to get poisoned now would you?" They had, at long last, neared the Cadre's hold.

The ferret cursed slightly, hoping he went unheard behind his helmet. "Alright then. . . I don't think food is too much of a problem; I remember this place being well-stocked at all times." He tapped his helmet while he thought more. "Moles, right? If they could get plenty of rubble up on the walls, it will help defending."

Zanthar watched from a small hilltop as his army packed their things for the coming battle. Breathing heavily, he turned to march them but was interrupted when he numbed into a hooded figure and fell on his backside. "Oi! What is the meaning of- *gasp* Father Abbot..." he said scrambling back to his feet and kneeling down. "Rise my apprentice," said the hooded figure, "No need for formalities." Zanthar nodded and arose, motioning out to his army he replied, "Abbot Zedd, everything is moving according to schedule, Redwall will be ours soon and from there, Salamandastron." "I know but on schedule is not good enough. So says the great one. Do not fail me Zanzuthari Deathhound. Or should I say Zanzuthari Sparra." He said through the emotionless mask which he wore. Zanthar's paw reached for his weapon, "Where did you learn of this name... for that is a name of which I haven't gone by for decades..." "I did some research on your past my friend. It would be a shame if I let the map of the fabled Sparra's Treasure dal into the wrong paws... Do not let the ottermaiden clod your alligence to me and the great one. Remember the last failed vassal." "Yes my master," said Zanthar solemnly, "I shall not fail you like that blasted otter Drask Rondox. You have my word."

As soon as they continued, Davidari stepped on a flat stone which then was pressed down like a button. "What strangeness is at work here?" Cried Davidari lifted his paw and the stone moved back into its original place. Suddenly, as if from thin air, a purple fog began to shroud the travelers. Davidari drew his sword and looked around swiftly, soon his eyelids began to weigh and he found himself desperately needing a nap. Kneeling down on his sword, he muttered, "I am sorry my love..." and collapsed.

Arraka watched her companion collapse. Any effect the mist may have had on her was delayed by her veil. She raised her arms just above her head and gazed into the rising gas. Closing her eyes, she whispered to it, "Unum vento flamma fluentem aqua, et consurgit in quo nulla vitae felis ut foedera. Tolle quod tuum est, in me, non timemus." The squirrel evaporated with the gas, completely disappearing. The gas itself rose very quickly, spurred on by Arraka's bond with it. Once it was gone, she hit the ground right next to Davi, having fallen from the last whiff of the gas.

How nice of the Cadre to leave the sleeper agent, Davidari needed a rest, and the fog would alert those they were seeking as to the travelers location. She walked to a nearby ash tree, careful to step over the trigger of yet another trap. She thought about purposefully setting off the snare, but chose to disarm the lethal darts and leave the rest intact, when her friend(s?) woke up, he probably wouldn't be too happy that she had let him be put to sleep.

Seeing as no one else was around, and the Cadre were... Was that Sleil? Yes it was, that was definitely his spear butt hitting the ground, clumsy scout, right on time as usual though. It would be roughly  half an hour before he got the rest of the Cadre informed, and arrival would be approximately an hour and ten minutes from then. Arraka sighed, she could actually take a break herself. She pulled her hood down, and let her veil fall. Breathing deep, she allowed herself the first smile since.... when was it?.. Hmm, since she could remember apparently. She dashed some water from a small flask she was carrying into her face, rubbing it around. The coolness felt very refreshing, and with the breeze blowing in, she felt quite rejuvenated. Arraka had a very rough exterior, but you wouldn't guess it if you could actually see her face. It was very soft, both in fur and in personality. The sheen of the water added to the natural glisten of the same fur. She was, quite arguably, beautiful. Her head lolled to the side as she spoke softly with her natural, far-sweeter voice, "If only my friend, if only fairness and justice didn't call me so. If not for the voice of the wounded, the cry of the weak... If only." She chuckled, letting her thoughts wander, but keeping her ears open.

OOC: I'm assuming Razer was caught in the gas too? Also, when y'all guys wanna wake up, make sure you post that you're  stirring first so I can put my hood back up.  ;)

BIC: Abbot Amaru looked uncomfortable watching the war preparation. To many times had he seen such ill tidings back in his homeland of Jima. Sighing, he returned to his desk and resumed his journal entries. Badgerpa Stone had the mole build a nice little earth wall up to about his forehead in height, and then place wooden stake all around that part. Foremole continued on with his engineering mastermind however, demanding there be more walls.

"What's this?" he asked curiously.

Arraka suddenly realized that pour Amaru was probably at least somewhat worried about Davi. She closed her eyes and whispered to the Abbey once again, "Et Davi Razer fine sunt, sumus currently ...... requiescit. Mox aderit Cadre Et sic posset adire redwall intra septimana ... Secundum in quam faciles illi sint, licet magnam spem habere. Recte, amice tecum fortuna." She opened her eyes once again, continuing appreciation of the splendor of the surrounding vegetation.

Not long after, her message arrived, "Davi and Razer are fine, we're currently...... resting. The Cadre will be here soon, so we might be able to get to Redwall within a week... Depending on how cooperative they are, I have high hopes though. All is well, my friends, good fortune go with thee."

Not long after Razer and Davidari had layed down, several purple robed figures emerged from the woods. Some looked as if they were assassins while others mighty sorcerers. They neared the fallen woodlanders and approached them with caution. Soon the leader towards the front order what appeared to be a halt. For the language was one of which no one could interpret.

Arraka stood up slowly and, somewhat, grudgingly, "I've been waiting for you, I must say, you're an interesting bunch. My name's Arraka Darkbrush, I've been through once or twice before, you might've seen me, might've missed me, but that's not important. The mouse's name is Davidari, and he's put his faith in the Cadre, who I'm currently assuming you are." She stopped to consider just how to continue from here, they weren't particularly outgoing, but they needed to get a move on, "I don't know how you deal with outsiders, seeing as no one ever seems to find you, but if you'd at least hear what the mouse has to say, it'd be greatly appreciated." She spoke humbly and honestly, her eyes shone in earnest, there was too much at stake for a foul up now.

OOC: Well hello to you too ya' old geezer.  :P

The leader glared at Arraka remaining silent. He pointed at his men and muttered something. The other robed ones lift the unconscious bodies and began carrying them into the woods. As they are leaving the leader looks to Arraka and says, "Come woodlander. Come with me." He then followed his men into the dark.

There was little else Arraka could do but nod her head in acknowledgment, and follow. She slowly flipped her hood back up as the party moved on into the forest, "It was nice while it lasted, but break time's over."

The mysterious creatures led the Redwallers to a mountain cave where the leader turned saying, "So, I see you a friend of te legendary knight Davidari. What affiliation have you to him? And another thing why have you come to seek us out."
