"It would be best to be off this morning. Who knows how long it will take us to find this fruit."

Jubilee bowed a greeting to the Abbess, still a bit wary. There were more normal otters in Cavern Hole than she had expected, and it bothered her.

The breakfast went smoothly and Vera ate a light meal of substantial foods so as to not be stuffed when they left the abbey. After finishing she told Kitty to grab her weapons from the make shift armory and to meet her and Randoll at the east wall gate.

Jubilee ate an apple, some bread, and some cheese before going to retrieve her weapons. Unbeknownst to the other Abbey-dwellers, she didn't keep them in the armory. After checking to see that nobeast was around, she crept into the bell tower and pulled her knives and sword from a small shelf she had made under the stairs. Strapping on her weapons, Jubilee strode from the tower, a new confidence filling her from tail to ears.

"There you are Kitty. Are you ready to set out?" Vera called as she saw Kitty nearing the gate where she and Randoll stood.
Diana had come to see them off.
"Well, good luck to you all."

Randoll had eaten with Vera and now stood by her at the gate. When Jubilee came up to them, he smiled at her. "I think we're quite ready for an adventure." Then he turned to Diana and bowed. "Thank you. I shall make sure that Vera and Kitty return safely, as is my duty."
Sekai de ichiban ohimesama. ;)

The three headed out the gate and into the forest.
Vera looked at a barkscroll she had pulled out from one of the haversacks and said, "If we're to find the fruit we'll have to follow the poem's instructions. The second part is what we need to look at.

Traverse the miles
And head northeast
Till you meet a trial
That seems impossible to beat.

That only gets us going in the general direction and tells us about where to stop. At least it's a start."

Arbella Brushtail was eating some dandelions for a light breakfast when she heard voices. She pricked up her ears and, going through the trees, traveled a short way and saw three beasts: A male mouse, a female otter, a female squirrel. She decided to follow them.

Ingrid fussed about her kitchen fixing odds and ends for the noontime meal. She felt a little guilty for asking Vera and the others to go on this quest, but she'd have to put it out of mind for the moment or her tarts were going to burn in the oven.

Jubilee walked slightly ahead of Randoll and Vera, looking about her at everything. She had only been out of the Abbey once before, for certain reasons, so everything she saw was new to her.

Vera kept alert. She knew that the woods could be treacherous, giving refugee to vermin and such. On the other hand, if you knew how to track and hide, they were very useful.

Arbella noticed that the ottermaid was observing everything, while the squirrelmaid was watching everything...The mouse she didn't pay much attention to.

Vera came around a small boulder that was in their path and on the other side was a squirrelmaid like herself.

Jubilee saw the strange squirrel too. "Hello!"
